Hi. I’m Yun Yun from School of Biological Sciences, USM. I’m now working on mangrove research as my MSc. project. We have met once in the Colloqium presentation at USM early in last year, if you still remember.
I have read your abstract with the title “Natural regeneration and rehabilitation of Aceh mangrove forest communities five years after the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami”. I was impressed by your work and would like to ask several question if you don’t mind.
You have mentioned that “Rhizophora apiculata and mangrove palm Nypa fruticans was found to migrate land-wand via seedling recruitment, naturally”. May I know is that only these two types of mangrove have such migration? and what is the reason of this migration? because of the change of soil condition or hydrological problem?
Also, may I know how’s the natural distribution (coastal or riparian?) of these mangroves before tsunami? Is Avicennia the pioneer along the coastline or other species?
I’d like to cite your paper in my thesis. So, if you agree, I’d like to have the full paper for further reading.
