The research on species composition and structure of mangrove forest in Pulau Rambut Wildlife Reserve (SMPR), Jakarta bay was done. Field research was carried out from October to November 2002. Transect of 40 m width with was continuously divided into subplots of 20 x 20 m (for tree stage), 5 x 5 m (for sampling stage) and 2 x 2 m (for seedling stage) was set up perpendicularly seaward in order to know the change of the vegetation from the seaward to the landward. Ten tree mangrove species were found, with Rhizophora mucronata as dominant species in all growth stage. Tree density is exponentially decreased from trees with small diameter to trees with big diameter
